Booster Cover Assembly
Installing Keith's resin Booster Covers onto JAG aluminum Outer Legs
I had the sheet metal shop make me a template for the four hole locations
that need to be added to the backside of the Booster Covers
Or you can print out a full size template from your printer
Or just measure it out with a ruler
Mark the hole locations
A new black Sharpie works great for this
This is where your going to drill and tap for installing #10 screws
Use a 9/64 inch Drill Bit
On the holes closest to the bottom of the Booster Covers your
limited to the depth you can drill due to the thickness of the Booster Cover
So I marked the depth on the drill bit with a piece of masking tape so I don't drill too deep
Drill slow and steady making sure you don't drill through the Booster Cover
Don't force the bit or you'll end up with an oblong hole that won't tap properly
Use #10-24UNC hand Tap
Tap the holes slowly
If you feel any resistance back out and start again
Tapping the resin is very easy and you shouldnt have any trouble
Install the screws
I used Thread Forming Screws for plastics from McMaster Carr
These seem to hold better in plastics, more bite
They are similar to self tapping screws
I got Phillips Pan Head, Black Finish #10-14 x 1/2 inch long
Leave at least 3/16 inch of the screw protruding
from the backside of the Booster Cover
3/16 inch is the thickness of the front plate of the aluminum Outer Legs
Drill and tap the holes at the top locations
These you can drill deeper and tap deeper because the Booster Covers are nice and thick in this area
Install all four screws
JAG aluminum Outer Legs with keyholes
Install the Booster Cover
Place the head of the screws into the keyholes
Once they are in slide the Booster Covers down and into position
Adjust the length of the screws till the Booster Covers are tightly secured
