A 10 year old girl dreamed it, We built it...R2-KT

Droid for Katie Johnson

Albin Johnson's Daughter Katie has cancer. He joined the R2-D2 Builders Club in hopes of making his Daughter an Astromech Droid.

Albin Johnson is the founder of the 501st. The 501st is a fanbased worldwide group consisting of costumed Star Wars, Imperial (Bad Guy) characters.

Even though they are the "bad guys" of the Star Wars Universe. They are the good guys when it comes to promoting charity events and fund raisers

In July 2005 Albins daughter suggested building a pink R2-D2 for her sister, and calling it R2-KT (Katie), poetic beauty!

So it began...

And while R2-KT was being built. R2-D2 Builders Club member Andy Schwarts takes his very own R2-D2 and repaints it white and pink

Delivers it to the Johnson Family as a stand-in for the R2-KT being built so Katie could enjoy a pink and white R2 Droid in her bedroom until she could have her very own

Many thanks go out to Andy for this generous act, as Katie passed away before her R2-KT could be completed

It was his R2-D2 that watched over Katie

Many Builders have stepped up and donated parts and or money for Albin to help make this a reality.

Unfortunitly time is short, and with Albin being an unexperienced builder some of us members have concerns over getting this done in time.

So basically I've taken it upon myself with greatful and humble permission from Albin to have us Builders build this Droid.
