Drink Tray from Star Wars Return of the Jedi

Modified A&A Drink Tray

1) Washed all the parts in the kitchen sink with warm water and soap.
2) Glued the parts together with 3M spray adhesive on the larger surface parts and used superglue on the smaller parts
3) Sanded everything to get rid of the seam lines
4) Started spraying the parts with Krylon gray primmer
5) Purchased some threaded spacers and screws to assemble the drink holders
6) Assembled and waiting for final painting
I need to pick a color. Don't think gold will look to good with the red.

Drink Holders Painted

I used a hammered aluminum finish spray paint I found at a craft store.
Very cool effect!

Quantity 12, 1/2" Diameter x 3/8" Long with 1/4" Inside Diameter Aluminum Spacers
Quantity 12, 1/4" Diameter x 3/8" Long with #10-32UNF inside thread, Aluminum Spacer
Quantity 24, #10-32UNF x 5/8" Long, Phillips Pan Head S.S. Screw with star lockwasher

Drill the holes in the drink holders larger enough for the screws to pass thru tightly.

Flip over and install the threaded spacers.
DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME. ONLY FINGER TIGHT.
I found if you overtighten, the spacers will sink into the material.

Slide the 1/2" Outside Diameter Spacers over the threaded spacers.
This will give you more surface area to distribute the weight.

Screw on the corresponding Drink Tray Holder.
Now tighten all the screws untill the star washers bite into the Drink Tray Holder material.

Assembled and strong.
The Drink Tray Holder Assembled does not flex anymore!
